We scheduled hours during the day and on an alternate day during the evening hours. We have also offered seminars for caregivers. It provided a great opportunity but it was not well-attended. If you have a group of caregivers that have already expressed an interest, you may be successful. I made the assumption that it may have be too much for caregivers to get away, to obtain child care (although we did not discourage bringing children), or to overcome the exhaustion from trying to get services, deal with the schools or manage the household. I do believe that there are support groups that do meet. Maybe someone else will have more encouraging information for you.

Permalink Reply by Michelle Winand on October 11, 2011 at 3:36pm Hi, I was just wondering if their is a support group in the area. I was a nanny for 7 years for twin boys on the spectrum and am looking into groups in this area and families that may need childcare services and want someone who has experience. I want to become more active in the area because I found out how much I loved being with this children and knowing I can make a difference. Thanks
Michelle
