I wanted to let you know that I attended the pre-certification workshop "Getting a Child Care center or Group home Started". Scheduling the workshop was about a 2-year journey for me. The PA Dept of Public Welfare Regional Certification offices are located in 4 regions. The closest one to me is Philadelphia. They have this procedure that is so rediculous... I am not sure why it still exists. You call the office and they give you a specific time and day that you have to call into the office to reserve a spot in the workshop. If you called too early... no answer, if you called on time... busy signal, if you called after the time, you were told to call back the next month at that specific time again. I went through this at least 10 times with no success. When I finally got frustrated enough to ask to speak to someone in charge, I was told ... " you can call Harrisburg for the same workshop, maybe they have openings".
What you mean that I have been calling over and over again and again and there was another option? I could not believe it. So she gave me the number, I called and scheduled the next available workshop which happend to be in Hollidaysburg, PA???? 3.5 hours away. I went, I got lost,--I prayed a lot on that drive... I attended the workshop and we received a certificate of completion and now have the application ready to prepare.
What's the point? I don't know , I can't remember.
