So many times, I get links and news updates about everything horrible that happened to an individual with specials needs.  It ranges from obscene tales of abuse to limited almost, criminal lack of access to services.  What a downer!  I know that these things are happening and no you can't put your head in the sand, but do you only want to read that stuff everyday?  Neither do I.  So as I can, I will post up positive and uplifting stories that show that humanity is not depraved and awful and there still are good people and positive thing happening in this world.  Hope you enjoy and please if you have something to post good or bad, don't hesitate, I am sure other parents and caregivers want to be in the know as well.

Father Creates Affordable Iphone App to Help Children with Autism

"I just really wanted something that was affordable and was also quality work," he said. "There were a lot of apps that did a lot of different things, but I really wanted a one-stop shop for people who had kids with autism."

The application essentially allows children to create simple sentences by selecting from a row of virtual flashcards that represent nouns and verbs.

What makes the app unique, Hill said, is that it allows parents to customize the flashcards, uploading their own photos, typing in their own text and recording their own voices. That allows the flashcards to be personalized for the child.

New Jersey - New Medical/Legal Partnership Created to Help Parents ...

Dr. Gary McAbee, director of pediatric neurology at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, is heading an effort to create a medical-legal partnership designed to help patients and families sort through the various legal matters that follow a diagnosis.

“The concept for (a medical-legal partnership) came out of Boston University about 25 years ago and was based on the philosophy that doctors are not going to solve all problems for patients,”
